Tick Fire- Client Evacuates

Last Thursday I received a call from a very concerned and upset client. Their family just gathered a few items and evacuated from the Tick Fire. After confirming coverage and that the policy was current we sent them a policy copy with claim number.  We assured them they made the correct decision to evacuate while you can and your families safety is number one. You can see by the pictures below that the threat was imminent to their home located off Poppy Meadows Lane Just off Highway 14 in Santa Clarita. This fire Grew so quickly in just a few hours to 4,000 acres Govenor Gavin Newsom declared a State of Emergency in LA county. Fortunately Fire Fighters were able to battle this fire aggressively and by that evening the wind had calmed enough and air-support was able to give ground crews a chance to fight the spot and structures fires. Currently the fire is 98% contained reported by Cal Fire and 9 Homes were destroyed and 9 Homes damaged.

A couple thoughts- Insurance can replace almost everything so make the safe decision and evacuate early even if not given the order. Evacuation gives first responders a chance to focus on fighting the fire and focusing on their safety so don't be selfish and evacuate early. Review your Insurance with your Agent sometimes insurance is really important. By chance this client came to us this year after Costco Insurance program cancelled them- the client was in agreement with our assessment and we increased home insurance values in the process. We are so please to report their home was not damaged and they have been able to return.
